Women of Excellence Honored

The Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM) and the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), has announced its 2023 Women of Excellence honorees, recognizing 51 outstanding women in the metal forming and fabricating industries. This eighth-annual list will be published in an expanded form in the December issue of MetalForming magazine. 

The Women of Excellence in Metal Forming and Fabricating program exists to recognize the vital role that women play in our industries, and to inspire the next generation to reap the rewards of a manufacturing career.

Lockheed Martin Opens $16.5 Million Missile Defense Lab

Lockheed Martin opened a $16.5 million Missile System Integration Lab (MSIL) at its Huntsville, Ala., campus, where the aerospace and defense company plans to develop and test a Next Generation Interceptor (NGI), a long-range ballistic missile interceptor.

Lockheed’s new MSIL will also house a digital engineering center and infrastructure to create a digital thread throughout the system integration process. The company is also planning to break ground this year on two more facilities in Courtland, Ala., which will add missile production space and a payload manufacturing center.

ANCA Presents their Annual Awards 

ANCA named a multi-functional carbide tool designed by Emuge-Franken Group as Tool of the Year 2023 at the EMO Hannover trade show in Germany. The award ceremony celebrates excellence, innovation and diversity in the cutting tool industry. 

ANCA also announced Lena Risse from Risse Tool Technology GmbH as the winner of its inaugural Female Machinist of the Year award. This initiative aims to promote diversity in the cutting tool industry and provide positive role models for women and girls considering careers in this sector.

Toyota to Buy First Stratasys F3300 3D Printer

Toyota Motor Corp. has agreed to be the first customer to purchase the new F3300 3D printer from Stratasys Ltd. The F3300 is a fusion deposition modeling (FDM) printer intended for scaling additive manufacturing. The new printer is capable of producing complex, high-precision parts that are crucial to vehicle design and usage, from prototypes to end-use components. The F3300 will lower cost-per-part by as much as 25% with 25% increased accuracy as compared to other FDM printers for production.
